You really need to reread what I wrote. I did not comment a single bit about the Surge effectiveness [although that was what your response was about].

But, to comment on that surge activity: regarding the MAJOR acts in the report, you might want to get some independent numbers, as the UN seems to think that Nationwide, violence is up, bombing is up and killing is up. I think you have to read how the Pentagon parses the numbers.
You may not have directly called them freedom fighters but you are the only one calling them "Freedom Fighters" w/ a capital "F!" That tells us a lot about your intent and your feelings on who the terrorists really are. And the reason I mentioned the Surge is because that is what this thread is all about. Perhaps you should read the USA Today article...

If you look at the second paragraph of the article you posted:

you will see that the "near" 50% number is based on a calculation of a spike month of last March.

While 50% is a good number and means fewer folks may be getting killed, the 50% is a dubious number as it is not based on an average or mean, just a spike month [which makes the number look better to the Pentagon]. Why would they feel the need to do that?

Would you feel better if they used the median?

No, it says nothing of my intent [FF capitalized is the standard journalistic writing for the phrase]. And your RushSpeak of "not have directly called..." is a cheap shot with no foundation.

Read what I wrote without Bushie Blinders on and you will see what my intent was.

My intent, to clarify for you was that they are not considered terrorists as you wrote in the opening paragraph of the post. They would be soldiers, insurgents, or Freedom Fighters depending on the perspective, but not terrorists.

I also questioned the accounting method of their dubious numbers which is not a surprise coming from this Administration.

Clear now?

McBear,
Kentucky

You state that "... they are not considered terrorists as you wrote in the opening paragraph of the post." Maybe you could clarify, for me, exactly what YOU think they are, if not terrorists?"
