What do you admire more?

So which is it, calm or intellect?

Hawking is pretty calm. I've never seen him running around screaming.

I mostly appreciate agitated indifference and doltish contempt.

Calm speaks to emotion, a concept I'm certain your intellect has amply surrounded.

Intellect.

A person with sound intellect, yet not calm can be medicated.

A person who is calm is always going to be only as smart as they are.

Each quality is uniquely interesting. Masters of intellect are far more common than masters of calm, which would make the latter the more challenging goal, therefore for those few who achieve it, more worthy of admiration, IMHO.

Intellect is uniquely interesting in that its shortcoming is generally only recognized in others. Those who lack speed, strength, or other highly regarded qualities are generally aware of their failings, not so much in regard to intellect, a source of unending frustration to many who do possess intellect, yet lack calm.
