We are being censored by a self-important busy-body who forbids and punishes his 19 year old adult son for looking at dirty pictures? This really is funny.

" Did the same hunt on my 19 year old's laptop and found less, but some. This, of course, resulted in banishment from the internet and other penances that I'll dream up. Even though teenagers may be less promiscuous than previous, they still, apparently, believe they're smarter than us. Anybody know a good monitoring software product (presuming I let them back on the internet one day)?

The only thing that woulda pissed me off more would be finding visits to BWOT."

I say again Mr Freeman, perhaps YOU are in the wrong place?

I am NOT self-important.

A couple things that I'll do, I will remove insensitive attempts at political humor from threads started to discuss tragic events (ie - I'm gonna use that thread to practice with the moderator tools, it'll look good when I'm done), and, at the request of a thread originator, will unhijack a thread (ie - if it goes from the Hubble telescope to politics) by deleting or moving the posts that did the hijacking. The attacks that Teutone refers to and the general pissing contests are tougher, the combatants seem to be enjoying themselves, some are hard to judge whether they're tongue in cheek or gritted teeth, others are not. Some of our most eloquent posts, dead on the thread topic, end with a sentence or two of "yo mama" (being kind). Some levity is appropriate in OT, gotta be a line though, as you know there have been/are some who never contribute anything but a jab or attack. All things considered, you guys know by your experience in here several things that are past that line. Best thing to do is to be civil in your incivility.

Hold on, ed - please don’t edit threads in an attempt to achieve some aesthetic goal; just leave the OT alone. I like my threads messy, thank you. And please don’t practice your modding vivisection on any threads, whether they meet your standards or not.

If tubgirl, goatse, lemonparty or the like show up again then fine, do your mod thing. Otherwise he who mods best mods least.

Everyone want to rule. For better or worse. For richer or poorer. For thinner or fatter. For tall or short. For witty or dull. For... Blah, blah, blah, Satan rules supreme, sign of the devil, 666, etc.

Well said.

I nominate jdc for OT mod. edfreeman can take care of the For Sale forum.

^^^^^^

This appears to be precisely the approach and attitude required to moderate rather than obliterate the spirit of OT. Thank-you jdc
