Traveling woes...

So I'm on the plane coming home from a great vacation.

Aisle seat near the front of the plane.

Row ahead of me, window seat, same side of the plane, is a little girl about 4-5 years old. Old enough to understand volume, etc., not a little baby crying.

Including flight time/boarding/deplaning we're on the plane a bit over 3 hours.

Kid DOESN'T speak about 4 minutes of that 3+ hours. For the rest of the time she's yammering constantly, including some annoying repetitions she apparently liked. Her normal speaking voice is more than double normal volume, quite loud. Occasionally shrieks, which is about the only time her dad says anything (then just a muffled "shush").

First time on an airplane that I've ever hoped for a "sudden loss of cabin pressure"; perhaps the oxygen mask would have muffled her to a normal volume.

What is wrong with parents today? Kids -- if taught -- understand "inside" and "outside" voices. They also -- if taught -- can learn the "seen and not heard" adage that used to prevail in this country.

To add insult to injury, their bags were at the carousel about 5 minutes before mine.

I was tempted to say something on the plane, but what?

At the carousel I was tempted to ask the parents if I could get their travel itinerary for the next decade or so to avoid ANY FREAKING CHANCE OF EVEN BEING IN THE SAME AIRPORT WITH THEM!!

I fly about twice a week, sometimes more, been doing it for years. In that time, I have learned an investment into a nice set of headphones and a fully charged laptop battery keep me immune from the screaming little fuckers. It is no defense against shitty diapers, however. When changing flights, you can use your layover time to recharge and you can deal with the frustrations of travel by launching massive flame attacks on the GOP inhabitants of Benzworld. It's not great, but hey, its a living, oy vey.

Recall that earlier generations faced down fascism and communism not just with missiles and tanks, but with sturdy alliances and enduring convictions. They understood that our power alone cannot protect us, nor does it entitle us to do as we please. Instead, they knew that our power grows through its prudent use; our security emanates from the justness of our cause, the force of our example, the tempering qualities of humility and restraint.

There was this guy that was nonstop puking on our flight to Vietnam.

There was also this baby that just wouldn't STFU. But, the baby can't help it, I used to be a chronic cryer too.

Actually the puker couldn't help it, either; not like he was enjoying it.

And what pray tell do you mean by "used to be"? When did you stop?

It was kind of amusing hearing the guy puke though. I felt bad for him. When it was almost time to land he felt loads better until we hit some turbulence and he started all over again. He even puked as we got off.

You're right. I did graduate to trainer's diapers though.

I generally don't mind kids yammering, but if it was disturbing then a word to the parents would not have been unreasonable
What I really hate is being seated next to a fat fucker, or having someone behind kick or bump my seatback.

I'm sorry, really. Next time I'll try to refrain...

No need. I just wait until their food and drink is served, then reciprocate with an abrupt recline manoeuvre. If the fat twat next to me intrudes on my space, I order red wine.

Yeah...I REALLY had a hard time putting the little tray table back into its upright position. I kept trying all through the flight.

Depending on how meetings of the day have gone, I have been known to start a discussion with one of my flying mates about whether it is the child that lacks discipline or the parent.
