Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy; its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery. (Winston Churchill)

I knew this girl named Faith once.
She was a little buck-toothed and admittedly a bit slow. I suppose that if there had been "special ed" back then she would have been a "special" girl.

Made out with her once on a hayride. I can still remember how cold it was outside, and how sweaty it became under all that hay. But, even after all that heavy petting, she demurred when I asked her for a ride home. I never saw her again.

Thats right....

Faith can refer to a religion, or to belief in God. It has two general implications which can be implied either exclusively or mutually:
  • To trust:
    • Believing a certain variable will act or has the potential to act a specific way despite the potential influence and probability of known or unknown change.
      • To have faith in ones spouse that he/she will keep a promise of commitment
      • To have faith that the world will someday be peaceful
      • To have faith in a person to pay you back
  • To believe without reason:
    • Believing impulsively, or believing based upon personal hopes
In either case, Faith is based upon the interpretation of the intangible ( feelings, emotions, etc.) instead of the physically tangible and is primarily associated with religion in modern times.

I think that's the one that gets the widest usage in my community.

Some Roman pagan theologian whose name escapes me said that faith without reason is superstition. (the context was arguing against recognizing the Christian/Jewish religions and in favor of maintaining the state supremacy of the pagan theology).

If reason is a rational motive for an act or belief

AND if definitions behave algebraically then ...

Faith - Reason = Superstition;
Reason = Faith - Superstition;
and finally
Faith = Rational motive - Superstition.

That should prime the pump rather nicely!

The biggest problems we are facing right now have to do with George Bush trying to bring more and more power into the executive branch and not go through Congress at all and thatís what I intend to reverse.

Foolishness, slavery, or freedom, depending on what you derive it from.

In my case it would be believing in someone or something but absolutely has nothing to do with a ficticious being(s) called GOD or what have you.

Wow, that is strange or maybe ironic. I'm not sure which. It's like having a sheet of paper and cutting-out a form that you don't acknowledge.

Fixed it for you.

Some other variants:
Faith + Fact = Stupidity
Fact + Stupidity = Faith
Faith + Stupidity = Fact

Faith + Emotion = Attachment.
Emotion + Attachment = Faith
Faith + Attachment = Emotion

Faith + Understanding =Will
Will + Understanding = Faith
Faith + Will = Understanding
