Wow - that thread is really, really funny. Some talented folks there.
I spent the day at the PGA at the invite of a vendor. Tough to say no to a $350 ticket with access to the Wanamaker tent (air conditioned w/ bar). Had a blast, despite the heat. It was funny to see Tom Lehman so sweaty you could see through his pants, when most of the rest of us who were following him (as well as Tiger, and John Daly) remained dry. You can tell who lives in a warm state & who doesn't. Got up to 101 at least, and the heat index was about 105. The thermometer in the SLK read 118 when I got in it to go home at around 4:00pm.
Television doesn't do justice to these guy's swings, their ball flight, nor the course quite frankly. I'm still watching in on TNT in HD, and you don't get even the slightest appreciation for how beautiful this course is.
The PGA turns the place into a theme park...music as you walk in, everything perfectly decorated & manicured, a huge blue-carpeted plywood walkway covering just about every hard surface (I guess it's easier on spectator's feet). It's an amazingly efficient operation from the transportation, concessions, keeping the coolers stocked, everything.
The most amazing store on earth is the PGA shop they set up on the grounds. Oh. My. Fucking. God. Could've spent my next paycheck in the place, and I probably wouldn't have had one of each type of cap they were selling.
