* Fight those who believe not in God nor the Last Day, nor hold forbidden that which hath been forbidden by God and His Messenger, nor acknowledge the religion of Truth, (even if they are) of the People of the Book, until they pay the Jizyah with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued. [Qur'an 9:29]
Atheism may not be a religion but it still is associated with political movements and people to whose motives of glorification last with in the reachable limits of this universe. An hence they cannot accept the principles of freedom and justice on the face of popular interest and yields. To fulfill their aim is their goal whether by force, injustice, violence, oppression, blah blah blah and guess these aims do not serve interest of any except few leaders. Remember cold war?? United States stood for something called freedom, equality and justice where as soviets stood for surveillance, degradation, famine, control, torture, propaganda, brutality, injustice blah blah blah.

But the imperial British were also godless with a church to serve their interest in the name of religion and a queen to sing "God save the bitch". Freedom is essential because land belongs to God and no one else shall subdue your essential freedom.
