Toy Car

Sorry to jump your train Dig , but I think this toy car is worthy of it's own little toy car thread . I found this little lovely when going through my fathers old boxes , you know the type of stuff ! life's real treasures , those silly things , keep sakes of loved ones gone , photos of capital times , and things like this . This was my oldest brothers toy car , he passed away over 42 years ago so it's 50's or early 60's, it's rather small and I have used a wrist watch to give an idea of scale . I think it's a 300 , the only thing stamped on the bottom is 'Mercedes Benz ' .

I believe that was standard issue in Monopoly board games of the era. Probably worth $2.50 on Ebay. I'll give you $5.00 for it--can't pass that up, eh?

Mind holding the watch still? I can't quite make out the date.

Now...
Please allow me to use this opportunity to offer my condolences on the loss of your father. I hope that the two of you had a wonderful relationship during the years in which your life and his intermingled. The car can be a keepsake that will remind you of both your brother and your father at a glance. That's a rare find and regardless of what the toy collectors may appraise it at, only you will always know its true value.

Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?

Cool. When my dad died he left me all his toys. He collected antique and reproduction fire engines and circus scene toys. When my son was little, he always wanted to play with them so we put them in storage. There are hundreds and I have no place to display them really.
He also collected antique hand-painted military figures. He had entire regiments but the coolest was the queens procession with a very ornate gold leaf carriage.
Mom still has those.
