It's quite clear that you have a lot to say, it's also quite clear that when pushed you have little but opinion to back up what you say. Opinions are fine but they don't hold a candle to facts.
You tell me I should stop fighting the Vietnam War, but then you tell half truths and plain misstatements about what happened there. Your only comeback is that my recollections are colored by my being there, yet not only were you not there, you take the statements of others that have an agenda to advance because it mirrors yours, and you deem that as the only truth.
You state that you are interested in reasoned debate, but when someone else states that they have clear and obvious reason to disagree you fall back on plain nonsense like: “You need a new playbook.”; “That worn out old mantra "If we don't fight them there, we will have to fight them here" just won't sell any more.” etc.
You blow off others comments like YOU have the only answer, and then you DON’T come up with one.
Speaking of personal comments, what’s this: “By the way, have you stopped beating your dog yet, Bruce R?”
You sir, are the hypocrite here.
Again, and I will say it slowly, so follow the bouncing ball....you, Bruce r., can only filter facts through a filter of ultra right wing McCarthyistic point of view, and your own words lead you to call everyone in disagreement with that, a media dupe, Marxist, traitor or ignoramus
You seem to have some strange siege mentality and fascination with apocalyptic doomsday scenario with staging a last stand with all your weapons.
The beating your dog comment was offered as an illustration (God I can't believe I have to explain this) to show the absurdity of your couching debate in loaded questions (about fighting them here). Geddit?
AGAIN you are a hypocrite for decrying lack of civility when YOU threw the first uncivil jab at me. You want to play that way, fine with me, it is just an internet debate. But if you are going to dish it out you better be able to take it.
The fact you were there fighting in Vietnam doesn't give you superior knowledge about what happened there. You only saw and heard what you did- not everything. Your mere anecdotal experiences from your Vietnam tour do NOT substutiute for an overall understanding of what happened there. Get over yourself.
Your remarks about that conflict reflect an obstinate inability to see any viewpoint other than your own. Good god man, you said that Walter Chroncite lost the war. That is patently absurd.
You really do believe that we "got stabbed in the back" over there, same as the WWI German vets whose resentment Hitler manipulated. "If only"
It's clear that you follow in lockstep the entire Neo-con line hook, line and sinker.
That is your right, and your business but when it flies in the face of reason and logic, and is subordinated by people like you, don't be surprised to be called out on it.
You should keep an open mind. One more time: The Vietnam war is over, you lost it. You want to rewrite it, you should take your guns and go back there and try. But I doubt you will get much support from Americans today in such a Quixotic endeavor...
Though I suppose it might gain you some media attention.
