"My proximity to the Severn River prompted me to fill out the BBC's request for information form and send it back. They have yet to contact me. Hope Elau's doing OK down that way. Think of all those poor Middies there for summer classes. What?"

Oh please....what a pale imitation of the real thing!

ooo...big picture.
You probably are seeing the Severn's bottom, it's drought down here. Hey have you ever dared walked across it when it freezes?

The newspaper says it is the worst flooding since 1947. Then deep down in the article some idiot claims it is because of Global Warming. Can't have it both ways, if it's the worst ever, that's one thing, but since it seems there has been flooding before, I think the Global warming excuse is a pretty far reach.

No, I'm not a big fan of the Severn. I had an 18 year old kid working for me back when I managed the Pier 1 Imports on Riva Rd. and West Street. Mike was one of those bright kids that you just knew was going to do something good with his life. He was a leader among the crew he worked with.

One night, he and some of his friends thought it would be fun to cross the river on the catwalk that is suspended just under the center of the bridge. They climbed a fence and went out on the catwalk. Mike led the way. The kid behind him said that as they were almost out to the middle of the bridge, Mike turned and looked back to say something as he was taking his next step forward. That section of the catwalk was missing and Mike stepped off and fell into the river. They found his body the next day.

I still can't cross that bridge without thinking about him and that was nearly 20 years ago. I guess even the good, smart kids can make deadly decisions.
