How far down the list the U.S. ranks in international aid is known to anyone who bothers to access the info.
What seems to be less known is where the US ranks in regard to standart and quality of living.

STANDARD OF LIVING WORLD STATS

The U.S. ranks 4th in GDP, yet it is 92nd in distribution of wealth—UN measurement. In other words the top 5% live the best of all nations, and the bottom 25% live worse than in countries such as Greece. This disparity explains why the U.S. with the most expensive medical system is counted as 37th as to quality of care by the World Health Organization. Instead of addressing this disparity, both parties have been handing out tax breaks to the top 5% and corporations. Without election-founding reform, we can expect this trend to continue.

My most significant fault is that I'm unable to suffer fools or foolishness gladly.

Also, I'm assuming that piles is the Brit equivalent to hemmorhoids, and not "piles of uncontrolable bowel movements".

That sums up my experience too. But the USA is one hell of a melting pot. This needs to be taken into context when compared to closed or stagnant societies.

Yes, in Britain we like them with a little extra 'A' as in haemorrhoids, but in London they are known as a touch of the farmers (Farmer Giles) or Rockfords (Rockford Files).

Free gen. & higher education, 30 days of paid holidays annually, medical & dental coverage, benefits, plus programs for job re training etc., with people who have the peace of mind and freedom to inform themselves, and participate in the political process.
All things U.S. politicians of either party wouldn't want.

Ahhhh, so good to know Austria is first on the scene with humanitarian aid in disasters, and so much higher in per capita giving than Britain and the USA.

Surprisingly I would join up with Bruce R in media bashing on this one...

The Americans are rather an insular lot, to say the truth, and the print and radio and TV media are to blame for that, they often report as thought the entire world consists only of the United States.

If you get out and travel outside the US borders, your perspective really widens.
Highly recommended.
