The UN does not call the shots; do you know what happened right after Saddam's execution?

Bingo. The egocentricism of empire ultimately demands that empire imposes its will everywhere.

What do I want from you? I want you to quit posting fucking lies. Then again, keep it up, I need the practice.

Recall that earlier generations faced down fascism and communism not just with missiles and tanks, but with sturdy alliances and enduring convictions. They understood that our power alone cannot protect us, nor does it entitle us to do as we please. Instead, they knew that our power grows through its prudent use; our security emanates from the justness of our cause, the force of our example, the tempering qualities of humility and restraint.

The Gulf of Tonkin Incident was very much as portrayed by LBJ, although it was more of a screw up by the North than anything else. They did attack our destroyers as was portrayed by the POTUS, I was deployed from Okinawa that morning along with my fighter interceptor squadron. We were based at Tan Son Nut.
Oh, and the French didn’t LEAVE, they were thrown out on their butts in 1954.
The “theory” that we were stabbed in the back, isn’t a theory, it’s a fact. The US never lost a battle in Vietnam, the war was lost on the home front, whether you believe it or not. I can see the same thing happening again, the demonizing of the troops, the slander of our motives, and the lack of support from the left. It’s all starting over again………
You are to be respected for serving in the US military, but the mere fact you did so makes you no authority as to what happened in the Vietnam conflict.

The fact that you were there in a military capacity makes you neither an expert, a hero or a criminal. And, you do NOT know the age of the people you criticize, you might be surprised.

The military, then, now and always, is just the "hammer". In Vietnam you were used for the purposes that LBJ believed in. The "Mission" there was never clear even at the best of times. The critical decisions, such as not to invade North Vietnam, and whether to bomb Hanoi were made by LBJ and the troops would have to carry them out.

The old "stabbed in the back" theory won't work any more, though it did well for Adolf Hitler when he used it on resentful German war veterans in 1919, and the result was the Nazi party rise, supported by the SA brown shirts. Maybe you would have believed Germany never lost WWI but got stabbed in the back by the Versailles treaty?

A President following his own agenda and using the troops for his own political purpose in a foreign purpose, squandering lives and treasure, questioning the patriotism of those who question his motives, the war industries profiteering, right wing fanatic conservatives attacking and savaging those who dare to question authority, another bogus mission, indeed you are right, IT IS HAPPENING AGAIN.

is now the party on the right
