Let's be honest now, it was only a problem when they weren't our "monolithic murdering, thieving, raping bunch of thugs to run a repressive, despotic autocracy"...

I'm not happy that the planners of these "benchmarks" did a horrible job not only in implementing then, but in planning the whole damned "strategy". It just flat sucks when the executors of this occupation of Iraq are bar-none incompetent. But you just go ahead and try to make them look better by attacking the critics. Good luck with that BTW.

Your avatar looks like my cousin, but no eagle I know would be a cowardly surrender monkey. Does "poser" sound familiar? Or maybe "loser" is more to your liking??

You missed the part where I mentioned being no threat to our strategic interests.

The biggest problems we are facing right now have to do with George Bush trying to bring more and more power into the executive branch and not go through Congress at all and that’s what I intend to reverse.

^ Point. Maybe if we stopped propping up murderous fascist dictators, they would stop trying to bite us in the ass.

I don't know why they shouldn't have an Islamic component to their governemnt -- that is who they are.
I agree completely that it is their government and they should decide how to deal with it. That, however flies in the face of our goal of establishing a nice little democrazy that fits in our plans for the region.

As for them putting Islam in their Constitution, it is not a problem for THEM, only a problem for US as we deal with Iraq. I did not mean to imply that they should not have it, just that it provides roadblocks to the current goals and benchmarks.
