The Blues and Royals felt he would be at risk and also endanger his mens lives if he whent to Iraq. Now this would be an interesting scenario. The Gurkhas are an extremely loyal Regiment and hold the Royal Family in high esteem. Im sure they would not be worried about going to Iraq with Harry in their midst. He could not ask for better protection. And look out Al Qieda (the Gurkhas can kick ass).

The British military have this business with Harry completely wrong. let the boy do his duty. If he gets through unscathed (as most soldiers do) then he can march in parades and post pompously self-important opinions on BWOT about army life 40 years after he served.

The biggest problems we are facing right now have to do with George Bush trying to bring more and more power into the executive branch and not go through Congress at all and thats what I intend to reverse.

I agree, what is the Ministry of Defence thinking? He wants to go and do his bit. But if they wont allow this then how will he feel when he is in his 50s. Im begining to think the Queen is behind this.

So what? That would be (Grand)motherly love. It's a powerful force, wanting to keep one's brood out of harm's way. Amplified many times over when the Iraq caper, which was where he sought to serve, but is being perceived more and more as a fruitless and hopeless endeavor, an invitation into a meatgrinder, Iraq.

Not to mention an overwhelmingly tempting terrorist plum as a hostage for terrorists.

How do you percieve (his) feelings on this. He joined the Army to serve. I served in Northern Ireland in the 1970s and then we did not wear badges of rank, because the higher the rank the bigger the target. He fully understands the risk he is taking and should be allowed to take that risk as all solders have to do. You dont join the Army to become a pacificst. But for many ex soldiers this happens.
