Bad Boy going to the Principal's Office

Lugar summoned to the White House for his remarks

Quote:
Lugar gets a meeting with White House aides on Iraq

Sen. Richard Lugar (R-Ind.), whose comments on Iraq have caused a huge ruckus in the Capitol today just told reporters that the White House called him to ask for a meeting. Lugar would not say who he is meeting with or when it would happen, but all indications are that it will be National Security Advisor Stephen Hadley and it will take place later in the week.
Lugar said that he had been working on his floor speech, which he delivered Monday night, for the last three weeks, and had shown other senators copies of the statement, although he did not inform the White House. The Indiana Republican also said he was not drafting any legislation or resolutions to express his own viewpoint on the war, at least not at this point.
Republicans are not sure themselves how to respond to Lugar's comments, and it's unclear now if it will change any votes on the war. One top Senate GOP aide said, "Well, it ain't Nixon going to China, but it means something. It means more than when [Sen. Chuck] Hagel (R-Neb.) came out against the war, although I am not sure how much more."

A Republican senator sympathetic to Lugar's position on the war - military force alone cannot succeed in Iraq, President Bush and congressional leaders must rebuilid a bipartisan consensus on U.S. foreign policy - wasn't sure Lugar's statements will make any difference.
"What will it change a vote on?" asked the Republican senator, speaking on the condition of anonymity. "Immediate withdrawal? No. Firm deadline [for a U.S. pullout]? No. Cutting funding for the troops? No. The press always plays this game, 'Does it change your vote?'. But I am not sure what will be voting on so I would say I just don't know."

I am sure Rove will know how to deal with him

I was going to post up a picture of Elmer Fudd who I think looks much like Rove but when I did the Google Image Search I spent so much time laughing at all the Cheney/Fudd P'chops that the Rove image slipped from my mind.

I wonder how much money President Bush has raised for Sen. Lugar? He raised over $1M last weekend for Sen. Sessions, who is leading the opposition on the President's immigration bill! If I were Rove I'd ask for a refund!!

Don't believe everything you think

Elmer, yes – I can see that, but this is who Rove reminds me of, don’t know why, perhaps it’s the hair…

Recall that earlier generations faced down fascism and communism not just with missiles and tanks, but with sturdy alliances and enduring convictions. They understood that our power alone cannot protect us, nor does it entitle us to do as we please. Instead, they knew that our power grows through its prudent use; our security emanates from the justness of our cause, the force of our example, the tempering qualities of humility and restraint.

-President Barack Obama, 1st Inaugural address

Surely Bush didn't raise that money just to get a yes man? Why I would think that the President would be raising money for the best, most experience, thinking candidate that he coul...ah Hell, he thought he raised it for a butt kissing YES MAN.

More bad intel. A pattern continues.
