That's not the point.

Recall that earlier generations faced down fascism and communism not just with missiles and tanks, but with sturdy alliances and enduring convictions. They understood that our power alone cannot protect us, nor does it entitle us to do as we please. Instead, they knew that our power grows through its prudent use; our security emanates from the justness of our cause, the force of our example, the tempering qualities of humility and restraint.

In the specific case posted above, if those women were so stupid as to identify themselves on line then who would want to hire them as a lawyer? If they did not self-identify then they probably have a chance of winning.

In either case, the jack-assed MoFo's who defamed them over the course of several years oughtta have some serious abu graib time with the girl's relatives.
Yes, anyone can sue for anything, but the job of an attorney is to tell you whether you have a case or not.

The job of an attorney is to make a living for himself. It is in his best interest to file a suit.

For stupid clients, that may be true. The attorney's job is to do his thing, the client's job is to get a good attorney, not some ambulance chaser.

You are right. For exampl, if someone referred to this forum as a bunch of men who come here during the times their penises are flaccid after visiting Hustler.com, no one would be able to sue except for me.

I have had, on three occasions reason to approach an attorney to enter into action against someone. Once, regarding a poorly constructed driveway, once when a contract was not paid in full and once when Mercedes sold me a Starmarked car that had, in the past been totaled but still certified.

On all three occasions I had more than ample proof of wrong doing and on all three occasions partners of the law firm agreed that I was 100% in the right. On all occasions the firm advised that it would not be worth the money to file the suit. On the first occasion [driveway] I would have to prove construction quality AND extract monies from a contractor who, while noted in the community also could burn through legal fees with the best of them. The second was against another attorney [bang head on wall] and the third, against Mercedes was one that, while the evidence was overwhelming was one of those cases where they said that it would cost $100K to get $20K MAYBE in five or more years.

Before you assume I might should have a better attorney, the firm partners were made up of a former Federal Judge, a former State Supreme Court Chief Justice, two former US Congressmen and forty others. My attorney was the former Chief Justice of the State Supreme Court, a man I have known since I was 10 and he was 16.

I was advised specifically and directly not to proceed on all three.

Being smart is knowing the difference, in a sticky situation between a well delivered anecdote and a well delivered antidote - bear.

I'm not a lawyer and don't pretend to be. I have never heard of a lawyer who made money by avoiding legal disputation.

You have your story and I'm sure you believe it accurate.
