Yes, he and Brownback are the two candidates who indicated that they have a hard time with being a monkey's uncle. He is actually an ordained Baptist minister.
Huckabee is a folksy, entertaining guy who actually has done a pretty good job of running neighboring Arkansas, which is probably the most liberal of the old Deep South states. He accomplished this by not attempting to legislate any of his superstitions, for not doing which he has actually received much criticism from the national GOP religious fascists, who would rather endorse a racist like Tancredo over him. Bush has given guys like him a bad name, it is unfortunate that a genuine Christian has been tar brushed with the utter hypocrisy of Bush and his sucker squad that has been taking the Christians in this country for rubes for the last six sick years. Huckabee, unlike the athiest Rove and the poser Bush, actually believes in his faith and does not use it for political advantage, at least not up to this point. I find it amazing that the national press and the GOP stooge squad is trying to posit Bush clone Thompson as somehow the inheritor of Reagan's mantle, when Huckabee is absolutely the one who really is more like Reagan than any other of these louts.
Recall that earlier generations faced down fascism and communism not just with missiles and tanks, but with sturdy alliances and enduring convictions. They understood that our power alone cannot protect us, nor does it entitle us to do as we please. Instead, they knew that our power grows through its prudent use; our security emanates from the justness of our cause, the force of our example, the tempering qualities of humility and restraint.
