Hey, Bot. All I meant by the reference to Louisiana Politics is that they don't otherwise have what you would call a stellar, squeaky-clean record....

I know, it's just an over-reaction on my part to a hard-earned, dubious title of most corrupt politcal system in teh United States. Since Governor Edward's last occupation of the governorship, Louisiana has made great strides in reform. We've been jailing lots of elected and appointed officials and it has begun having a pretty darned good effect for people within the state. Much as our current governor has been a failure as a crisis leader, she is still an honest, hard-working governor who despite her leadership flaws, has done the best she could. We have done far worse. I voted for her because I knew her to have a strong committment personally to high ethical standards and I knew that kind of person affects all subordinates. Too bad she failed in leadership when the chips were down.

We still have a loooong way to go to catch-up with even our nearest neighbors, but you have to start somewhere.

As a long-time resident of Chicago, I also object to that trophy resting on the Louisiana mantle. Though we may lack a certain colorful southern flair, I do believe we could stake a legitimate claim.

Now we know what it takes for the Federal Government to notice a black man in New Orleans.

Since the 2006 elections, a large number of people have moved into NOLA. Many, many of them are some form of hispanic-american. Probably many of them are illegal aliens but a very large number are Tex-Mex unskilled and skilled laborers who are rebuilding the city. They have jobs and are hard-working and are bringing their families to NOLA. They are changing the complexion from dark chocolate to milk chocolate.

Many middle class blacks are returning, too. They are rebuilding now instead of waiting for the machine to trickle-down federal funds for rebuilding. They are hoping that they will get some form of reimbursement but of the tens of thousands of claims, fewer than a thousand have been paid. Good luck on the rest.

The poor are not returning in any significant numbers. Thank you Dallas, Atlanta, and Houston!

Many, many middle class whites have given up and moved to the North Shore bedroom communities.

Thus, the city has changed dramatically since the 2006 election. The change will have a huge effect on the voting patterns and with the 2010 census, will undoubtedly lose at least one house seat.

Good luck predicting how it will all shake out.

B
Maybe you should take your bitch up with the voters of his district, they seem to be the heart of the problem.

Recall that earlier generations faced down fascism and communism not just with missiles and tanks, but with sturdy alliances and enduring convictions. They understood that our power alone cannot protect us, nor does it entitle us to do as we please. Instead, they knew that our power grows through its prudent use; our security emanates from the justness of our cause, the force of our example, the tempering qualities of humility and restraint.

I don't think it's a bitch, I believe B is just commenting that Democrats just seem to like criminals for their representatives. Unless of course there is an (R) in their title.

So we got Neys in jail, Delay on his way, another one indicted not long ago in the Abramoff scandal, we got Libby on his way to the joint, shall I go on?
