Agreed.

Which is why Thompson will be the nominee and new US president in 2009.

I think Thompson is going to turn out to be a bitter disappointment to the GOP. The man is not particularly smart, and all the focus group reports I have read has shown an electorate that is tired of show over substance after six years of the most phony administration in US history. While a television actor appeals to those pining for Reagan and his glory, the man is just a rehash of Bush, with the same stands and opinions, with a political machine that revolves around a stage management. One can see the seeds of his destruction clearly in the stupid ad he ran, which was quickly pulled, against Michael Moore. The obvious acting and scripting, complete with cigar props and the attempted illusion of him stopping to read his paper for a moment so he could deliver us his wisdom, was a disaster for him. Just what we need, another phony son of a bitch for president. I doubt that he will attract much more than the 30% RWNJ vote who thinks he is Christ.

Recall that earlier generations faced down fascism and communism not just with missiles and tanks, but with sturdy alliances and enduring convictions. They understood that our power alone cannot protect us, nor does it entitle us to do as we please. Instead, they knew that our power grows through its prudent use; our security emanates from the justness of our cause, the force of our example, the tempering qualities of humility and restraint.

It wasn't his background as an actor, it was the "Ron" factor....

Instead of "dumb image" I prefer the more polite term, "Jayhawkism". Just read what this idiot has to say:

Sam is a friend, and a stand-up guy. He's not my pick for President, but he'd be better than anyone running on the democrat side.

Don't believe everything you think
