How long will you be around there, on the assignment?
I know the place you are talking about well, have friends living next door in Rodeo. It's not known as a place for culture, by any stretch.
There's a terrific, historic tavern, just down the way from there (under the Carquinez Bridge) in historic Crockett. If you have a chance, it'd be worth a look, along with the old Union Hotel that I think is still there.
Better yet, take your rental car into SF (if there is time) and grab a good ethnic dinner there. Pnom Penh on Geary is a great Cambodian, great Peruvian place on Van Ness, Ti Couz is the best Creperie around, endless list...
I'd be happy to stand you a dinner, if you are around there for a while, your insights are good, if irreverent, and Benicia is a pretty ugly place, frankly.
