Although I find it hideously ugly as well, the fact they got 5x more lateral stiffness while retaining the normal pneumatic cushion is very impressive. That may make one hell of a track wheel.

Sounds like a good idea. Sidewall flexibility means so damn much to ride comfort and handling that getting the wheel to flex would could be a real bonus. Notice they show it on a nose heavy, bounce off the bumps stops Audi. Getting rid of air and balance issues could be a bonus too. There is hardly a fucker on this planet that can balance a wheel over 15 inches in diameter with under a 70 series tire.

They showed it over two years ago...and haven't talked about it since. I wonder what the holdup is. I don't think they can make it in a practical cost effective manner.
