Looked at real estate in Carmel Valley, Carmel south of Ocean, and in Pebble. Always preferred Pebble since it has estates and land (breathing room) and is not so pinched together (also the gates keep assholes out.)
Prices out there are the best I have seen in eight years! Very tempting so I looked at three homes in Pebble. I always forget how badly built homes are in this area. Since the temperature doesn't vary too darn much the builders think insulation is above and beyond. So you go into 4 million dollar homes with no door thresholds, windows that never shut fully, and water heaters located basically outside on closets. Cheap sheet rock on the walls, cheap stucco on the exterior, and Las Vegas redo's on a budget are the norm. Growing up in Dallas and now in Santa Fe really shoots home how compromised people in Cali must live in order to savor the near ideal 24/7 weather.
Got back to S Fe and my home never looked better. The roads are unclogged and the air smells fresh. Too bad though that I choose to stay here, because investment wise an ocean view, 4k to 6k square ft home is bound to be worth far more in Pebble in 10 years than in S Fe if history is anything to go by, which it is.
