This is an image that I want 'believers' in god to look at. Look closely...I am not fooling with you. Is there something spiritual about what you are looking at? Perhaps not in your Christian eyes but in the eyes of another 'believer'?

(Unless you beleive the Geico commercials and think there are or were Cavemen!! LOL People living in caves not knowing how to write and having to draw pictures to communicate does not make them sub-human.)

There are no human, monkeys, ape, animals in mid change from other animals of their kind. I have seen no Humans with wings or half monkey/man animals. So how can you believe in evolution?

Show me some living proof of evolution and not past, made up by scientists, history of evolution.

You can blend 2 plants together to make a new one, but that is not evolution. That only happens cause someone made it hapen.

You can mate 2 different dogs together to get a mutt...that's not evolution...that's actually making a lesser of an animal. wouldn't that be de-evolution?

So believing in evolution is as absurd to me as believing in God is to you.

To each their own.

Believe it or not!
How is it possible to show you something in the present as it's changing? We cannot specifically see into the future, so we cannot know what a particular organism in a changing state is going to turn out to be. You have to know what it is and what it will be to determine that.

Well we do know what humans are and we know what apes are but there are not any apemen running around.

Does evolution happen all at once or wouldn't there be half monkey half people running around since we came from apes?

I just don't see any half and half of any species. Do you?

Show me an ape that had a human baby? Where's the evolution?

So because you cannot understand even the smallest part of the science behind the theory, it must be a bunch of lies, and you then defer to some re-translated self-contradicting tribal stories to explain the origin of species???

Convincing.

The conjecture on why something is so is called a "theory". In the world of science, more and more evidence will accumulate to indicate it is true, and it will become like the "theory" of evolution, as obvious as a German Shepard putting it to your Chihuahua. My explanation is more obvious and logical than the one used by the ignorant for centuries, that some 'god' did it.
Well, duuuuh.

In all honesty I respected you more when you were still KV. Ever since the FTL character came on board, when your ideas are questioned you all-too-quickly resort to ridiculous comments, profanity and belittling those who don't agree with you. Quite predictable and boorish, actually. One of the things I enjoyed about law school was the intellectual challenge, not that I expect the latter on a public forum.

In any event, the selective breeding of dogs was YOUR example and -- whether you care to admit it or not -- is a perfect example of intelligent design, that of a outside intelligence interfering with the natural course of events to obtain specific traits that nature would otherwise fold back in. (Of course GS's post begs the question by assuming macroevolution without which there would be no animals to selectively breed.) That is the exact point, so the fact that you can't control your dog any more than your language is irrelevant. Dogs will always be dogs, despite traits that selective breeding will seek.

Moreover, I didn't say whit about 'god', you're now bringing it up. Rather, I'm not willing to reject the idea as you and many others are quick to do. I suppose if you close your mind to even the possibility of an outside influence then the "best explanation" is the "theory" of evolution. (And yes, thank you, I was at one time a student of science and understand how theories evolve into a proof, you don't need to be quite so condescending about it.) Your explanation is neither "obvious" nor "logical" for the point you tried to make, in argument that's called a non sequitur. (FWIW, you may see a dog try to mate with a cat or a racoon, and even if he's successful in his attempt, there will no offspring, which would be a great way for new species to appear through macroevolution...but no.)

That's the broader point here. I'm willing to be open-minded about this in part because I see the holes in the macroevolution THEORY. Apparently your mind on this topic is closed, and as much as you slam "the neocons" for being stubborn bush supporters, you fail to see that in this instance you are doing exactly the same thing. And speaking of holes, one of the many problems I have with macroevolution is that there are so many holes in it that it's ardent supporters can use almost any argument to support it's tautological reasoning, which in essence can be boiled down to: 1. Beneficial traits will appear that make "X" more likely to pass them on to the next generation. 2. Thus, in the next generation these beneficial traits will appear. 3. Beneficial traits are passed on to the next generation. Q: Tell us, Mr. slight-of-hand, how do we know that a trait is beneficial? A: because it is passed on to the next generation, there's a good puppy, let me pat you on the head, here's your biscuit, now run outside and copulate with the neighbors' dogs.

Just for the sake of clarification -- because it will otherwise fly right past you and the other left-of-the-left here -- I completely support the basic theory of evolution, that living creatures adapt to their environment and that some of those adaptations may indeed increase their appearance in subsequent generations. However, the big hole (er, sesspoool) of mutations appearing and then leading to whole new species? Give me a break. Virtually every mutation has at best a neutral or negative effect, and often results in death to the host (e.g., cancer) and never appears in a subsequent generation. And a section of the macroevolutionists is now spouting the nonsense that the building blocks of life got to this planet by alien visitors depositing them. You want to subscribe to those kinds of crackpot beliefs, hey, enjoy, just don't try to convince me of their "truth".

I've explained my points ad nauseum and as noted your mind is closed on the subject. The bottom line here is that those who want to believe the THEORY of macroevolution will believe it, no matter what holes or problems can be seen with it. Just as those ragheads who flew the jets into the WTC Towers believed they would wake up with allah slapping them on the backs for what a good job they did. At some level macroevolution is as much based on "faith" as is "Catholicism".

That no more makes you "right" and me "wrong" than does my telling you that your support of democrats or that Jayhawk's love of the republicans is "wrong". The point is that at it's root, it is a personal belief that can be defended, but not proven.

Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy; its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery. (Winston Churchill)
