All right fellas, you're scarin' me!
Chatanooga is not for novices! It is for hardcore, midsouth, PWT. If you can form a sentence, and whistle [meaning you have your front teeth] you are not allowed inside the city limits.
If Tennessee is a must, go to the Knoxville area. [real] University town and has a diverse culture.
A better choice istill would be Ashville, NC. Might just be the best place in the country to live.
Augusta, GA / Aiken, SC is another interesting area to look into.
My family comes from Ashville over to Fayetteville, TN which is just west of Chatanooga. Spent alot of time in the area.
More on the short list:
SW Colorado: Durango, Ouray, Pagosa Springs
Lake Tahoe area NV: Carson City, Reno, Sparks
Coeur d' Alene, ID
Klamath Falls, OR
