Broke down in Nogales

In the words of Sam Jacksons character in Pulp Fiction, i did some "Fucked-up repugnant shit".
I was backing into a dock and did not see a ravine with a concrete curb. My right wheel on the steering axle fell in and tore up a radiator hose causing a waterfall of water and coolant to flow like Niagra.......bone dry within minutes.
I'm a kilometer from Mexico and the nearest diesel mechanic is 50 miles away.

Que fortunado yo habla Espanol.

I found a guy in a dirty junk yard who can do the work in the morning.

I want to sat to all the haters out there that two Mexican truck drivers out of the kindness of their hearts drove me completely out of their way to the mechanic without me asking and he in turn drove me back to my truck, assessed the damage, took me to a truck stop so I could buy smokes and a sixer of Pacifico then drove me back. You don't see this sort of selfless behavior in Chicago and I'm deeply indebted.

The situation reminds me of one of my favorite songs:

Nah, it's in their nature to 'pick' you up. You probably look a bit like a tomato after a few hours in the Arizona sunshine.

Cross the border and pick up some Percodans while you're there. Always try to turn a negative to advantage.

Strangely, I have the best tan of my life. Irish skin is notorious for burning but the UV protection in the windows cancels out the icky rays,
I was brushing my teeth the other morning after putting on a fresh white t-shirt and the shirt appeared to glow in the dark. The only other Irish guy I ever met with a decent tan was a lifeguard on Venice Beach whom I met while hiding under the guard tower whilst being taunted by my wife and son, both of whom have Polish farmer skin. By August, my nicknames for them are Shenaynay and Leroy.

MacGyvering it

I noticed that applied pressure to my wifi card gave me a few more bars. Wedging it tightly against a set of sockets seems to do the trick.

The Pacifico, while extremely important, has nothing to do with this ingenious workaround. Also, Cheetos Flamin' Hot are fucking brutal.

As a final note, after a year of owning this Razr, I've just figured out how to send pictures to an email account. Adult diapers are surely on the horizon.

......sorry to hear about this, but glad to hear you found a little "ayuda" for your "camion descompuesto". Seems like the trucker's fraternity doesn't stop at the border.

But still, I have seen the Mexcian rigs, and the safety standards for them are NOT the same as here, I would NOT want them on the US roads....(discussion for another thread for sure...)

I have been through Nogales Son. a few times (driving in a car) and as a border town, it's pretty nice for a turista to take a look at, but I don't like Tijuana so much, its a BIG city now.

The new Mexican President has sent the military to TJ to deal with the narco trafficantes. The military (less corrupt?) has taken the guns away from the corrupt local police, have set up checkpoints/road blocks all over, and are patrolling the streets.

An acquaintance runs a 24Hr billiard hall on constitution, where quite a few heavies from all parts of S. and Central America hang out and gamble.

If you'd been in your click, different story entirely...

Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy; its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery. (Winston Churchill)
