It is poor customer service to allow someone to purchase an item without suggesting an item to 'Add On' to their selection.
"Do you need some socks to go with your new shoes?"
See, if the customer gets home and realizes you didn't suggest the socks...and they NEEDED socks...they'll have to come back and yell at you and make you feel like the lowest form of wormshit because you didn't suggest socks.
So. You 'Add On' the socks during the initial purchase and make the customer feel good that they shopped in your store and just bought a high profit item they never intended to buy! Your store's average transaction goes up and you look like a hero. Especially if it's the fucking low life Mystery Shopper you just did the Add On for.
But that's another lesson.
Retail is Fun!
