When I was young and poor...

I was a Republican.

Now I am old and far from poor.

And I am a Democrat.

Someone please explain it to me.

Clarity comes when you release the worries of everyday constraints.

It is like when you were young and finally released yourself from peer pressure.

Are you telling us this is opposite day? It's the young dreamers with no money that think the government owes them everything that are the democrats, and the old fat rich jerks who thinks the government shouldn't help everyone that are the republicans.

Not that I'm stereotyping or anything.

But you know me, I'm a centrist-libertarian-oldcon blend and I can't stand either of the parties.

Or maybe you're just an enigma.

My favorite quote along these lines?
I think it was Churchill who said (and I'm paraphrasing, whoever it was): Tthose who are not liberal at twenty have no heart while those who are not conservative at forty have no brain.

Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy; its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery. (Winston Churchill)

When you were young and poor you had a simple taste. You were taught and believed in the science of working hard to have the best life has to offer...

When you acquired more and slipped into senility, you bought into The Democrat ideology, which is more like a religion. It attempts to teach people to be more dependant on others, look to a leader, and be less self reliant.

You have forgotten the Science and without it, your Religion is blind.

Greg,

This is exactly the quote I had in mind.

As of the rest, no, I am not implying anything.

I don't want to send Republicans to another planet as one bozo suggested for the Democrats.

I cherish and respect La Difference.

And since I respect the author of the quote, what does it mean for me?

lol i'm messing with you, but you have to admit its a bit hypocritical.

I find it funny how angry libs/dems get when you challenge them. we reps have much thicker skins i guess. I cant help notice how thin skinned dems are and when they are called out they call you names like bozo but have so little facts to offer, no suggestions of any kind or are able to have a intelectual debate. why is this?

Like I said, get lost.

You have no freaking idea whatsoever what "intellectual debate" means.

Wait, can't I just put you on Ignore?

So are you a republican or a conservative? Those two parted ways a few years ago...
