This happened in Europe, FYI they drive on the "wrong side" every day.

Whether it was a Smart or not, you really won't have much chance of survival in a head-on collision with a truck. So, I guess the lesson here is that if you drive a Smart, drive Smart.

Quite a lame statement. I have been driving cars since the mid 80s or something, until late 2003 in the Netherlands and since then in California. Especially the last 4 years I have had the weirdest encounters on the road, even when the average (highway) speed is quite a bit lower...

BtW this happened in Brazil. Car in question is/was a VW CrossFox.

About the driver...

For those of you that really want to know... he was literally split in half. My husband's a cop and they were shown those pics (plus the others) in a training. Very sad.

Seeing as the car in question was NOT a Smart car could this thread be removed?

I only say this because this thread is referrenced tons of times by friends as reasons NOT to buy a Smart car.

No need to add to the mis-information.

Thumbs up Thank You Very Much

Thank you very much for removing the images containing the accident corpse. Those images appear to have been removed by JimB on 07-12-07.

Objections were raised which equated my request to remove this topic as censorship. Every single member has agreed and accepted that BenzWorld.org reserves the right to any changes they deem appropriate.

My regret is for failing to realize there was already a Death and Carnage forum on this community. It would have been better to request moving this topic to that location. Just like going to a porn site, visitors know what to expect when they get there.

Support was voiced equating showing this dead person to promoting vehicular safety. It is unlikely I will ever make that connection, with the possible exception of juveniles. For some reason, every time I see a terrible operator, I think the problem is inadequate skill, driver distraction or innate inability, instead of failing to recall images of crushed corpses.

There are those without the ability to visualize the effect of using a vehicle to rapidly convert kinetic energy to thermal energy. It makes perfect sense to me to post images of vehicular crash damage, without dead bodies, even for fatal crashes.

For all those who feel these images were a tool for safety, the images are gone, so be afraid, be very afraid!

Be afraid of what? Sh1t happens.

People die every day due to gruesome reasons. If you honestly think you can shield yourself or someone else from seeing this at some point or the other, you've got to be kidding.

Our society is becoming increasingly over protective, and for what reason? To limit the number of deaths? You know, mankind isn't going to just disappear due to car accidents or whatever...

Caution should be played in every situation, that I agree, but sooner or later one will have to face this.

Wingless, kindly stop thinking for us. Myself and I am sure others are quite tired of folk who feel their opinon is of higher value than others. We can think for ourselves and it is those who keep thinking for us that need to be very afraid.

A notation in the thread title that graphic photos were present was all that was needed. Granted a move to death and carnage forum as well would be best. This way we could make our own decisions from there.

BTW.... Im going to check but wonder if the death and carnage forum has a member age lock. That way parents can decide if they want their child to view the pics in there.
