BMW Fuel Tank Suction

My friend has a BMW 740iL, he had a leak in his Fuel tank and got it replaced 3 months ago. There seems to be a leak in the fuel tank again and it appears that it is being caused by vacum being generated in the tank. The Tank sucks inwards (like a plastic bottle) and some how gets back to its original poistion. This breathing factor is causes the tank to contract and expand damaging the corners and finally causing small leaks in the walls.

Any idea what is causing it and how it can be resolved?

More than likely it's a non-functioning check-valve or clogged charcoal filter cannister in the tank ventilation system. In the short term, he might try leaving the fuel cap slightly loose, to avoid the collapse, but the engine may register this as a vacuum leak and idle a little rough.
