Back to the original comment on this thread...........
In some places, and certainly in some points in time in this country, Reid's remarks would have been considered to give aid and comfort to the enemy. That is what mose people call treason.
Does anyone here truely believe that comments like this from the hierarcy of the Democrap Party don't help and support the enemy? Give them the will to fight on?

They knew full well the absolutely inevitable result no matter what we do, would be an Iraqi Persian puppet state, which is essentially what Iraq is today, which would in turn become its proxy state to carry the idealogy of Islamic Republicanism to the Arab world. They are moving into Phase II now, which is to get us out of Iraq, another inevitability anyone could foresee, so they can claim the Iraqi rump state. They leave us little options. Iraq will never be stable unless they allow it to be. We can stay and bleed slowly, leave, or invade Iran, an option I think they would welcome so they can continue their new paradigm of war against us in Iran itself.
That was also my theory all along but with a twist. The main player or bridge guy if you will was Chalabi. He also got Israel to think that there will be something for it if the US invaded Iraq. So you can imagine why the Israeli lobby was pushing for the Iraq war but the pretext was of course masked under the banner of terrorism. To this day there is no oil pipeline as promised that links Iraq to Israel, I wonder why?
Chalabi played the US and Israel under the direction of Iranian intelligence to execute the Mullah's dream of seeing Iraq disintegrate and become a bastion of Shiite dominated Persian Empire.

Yes! There was a time in this country--not that long ago--that these people would have been hung for treason. They not only give aid and comfort to our enemies, they are empowering them to kill more and more of our soldiers. The democraps "success" now depends on the United States failure in winning the war on terror. They have even removed all mention to the war on terror from any official Congressional documents. They won't even mention it on the Floor of the House or Senate--as if not mentioning it will make it go away. What a sad sad situation for this great nation...

Congress is becoming Al-Qaida-West. The democraps have once again put short-term political ambitions ahead of long-term national security and success. From their rogue international mis-adventures designed to make our President and nation look bad, to their taxing economic programs that make a few people feel better at the expense of our national economy, to the feel-good social programs that reinforce the worst in our society at the expense of the national good, etc., etc., etc... As I said, it is a sad sad time in our nation's history.

But no one ever questioned his foreign policies or his domestic policies or his judgment or his toughness or his will or his ethics or his cabinet or his abilities to get things done. Read the NYT from the day and see the editorials. They talk about his age [as Kennedy was coming up in the election] and they talk about his golf but also his ability to work from that "country club" perch.

After running the European theater and placating Churchill and Stalin and Patton and Montgomery, JUST running the country must have seemed permanent R&R.

At NO POINT in this countries history has public discussion of war policy been considered treason. That is just absurd. That freedom to discuss and oppose it what separates us from other countries.

And really, to what enemy would it give aid and comfort to? We are in a policing action in Iraq, “training” Iraqi forces to “step up so we can stand down”. There is no real enemy there that we would be giving comfort to. And Al Qaeda? Iraq was not their turf. It still is not. Any bases there are only there AFTER we opened up the borders and popped the vacuum. Al Qaeda is everywhere they want to be. Whether we win or lose in Iraq matters ZERO to our fight with Al Qaeda. All a pull out in Iraq does is let the mechanisms of the civil war that we triggered continued go on to its ugly conclusion. The conclusion is going to occur whether we are there or not or whether we pull out in five years or five months.

Al Qaeda is a fundamentalist splinter sect of Islam, and not a nation, our fight with them is going to be “hearts and minds”, not “streets and blocks”. That has been Bushie’s biggest stumbling block. He appears to not understand that he cannot put his finger on a map and “attack” Al Qaeda.

Do our comments give the enemy the will to fight on? YES. They hate us for what we have done to their people for centuries. They hate us for trying to Christianize their culture. They hate us because we support Israel. They hate us because we are, by their religion infidels. They hate us because we have abused them and their land for our purposes. The words of the Democratic leadership have very little meaning to them. They do not need additional incentive to have the will to fight on.
