What in the FUCK are you talking about????? I just said the same goddamned thing! Open your mouth a bit wider, and you should be able to see that when you re-read my posts.

The post you quoted was a response to McBear, who cited the disparity between the way public figures are treated when they make some form of negative remark toward people of other races or cultures. The way in which such comments are treated begins with an evaluation of the subject's skin color. Is that right or wrong? Who knows. I do think it's fair to question why it is that some people have an implicit 'right' to spout racist rhetoric, while others remain in the sights of hair-triggered snipers just waiting for an excuse to pull the trigger.

Whatever the opinions regarding Don Imus, one thing I do not see referred to anywhere in depth is the $$$ issue. CBS decided to pull the plug on Imus only after sponsors had bailed. Talk about double standards, this is it: moral/racial issue that is made to be the central focus is not as important to the parent company, but ad revenue is.

In the end, Imus did say the wrong thing, but what leaves bad taste over all this is that while Imus is getting what many considers he deserves, he is just a tidy human sacrifice for CBS who presently views Imus only as a financial liability and not over its company ethics (is there one to begin with?), despite all those talks about his racial insensitivity and bigotry at odds with the Company's policy.

Whatever the reason they state for dismissal, at the bottom is the money-obsessed culture where decisions are made solely on potential profits/losses which I find it sickening.

Live by the sword, die by the sword. It was the desire for profit that led to his hiring in the first place, it was the desire for profit that kept him on the air, and it was the desire for profit that contributed mightily to his demise. It's called capitalism -- get over it.

We forgive him

The team just announced that they accept the Iman's apology and forgive him. Further, the coach said she thinks firing him was wrong--a gross overreaction. They wished him well.

I find it a bit ironic that two self-proclaimed disciples of Christ were unable to find forgiveness for the man after profusely apologizing, while those actually offended by his remarks could. Hypocrisy is livin' large.

I think you also correctly called it "capitalism." They are responding to the worst of all free market motivations, however. I think the real hypocrisy is found at CBS and PMS NBC! I just hope that their gross overreactions come back to bite them in the ass!!
