Oh this is bullshit. Yeah he slipped but its live TV and this shit happens. I thought it was funny but without knowing a damn thing about the team, just hearing "nappy haired ho" is funny. Can everyone here honestly say a racist remark never slipped through their lips?. I cant, hell pretty much on a daily basis I'll say something racist and realize it only after I said it. The rappers can call women hoes, degrade them, use the N word like there is no tomorrow but thats all ok. Sorry FTL, I never owned a slave and no black man/woman alive today has ever been a slave so I dont understand why white people have to shut the hell up while others think they can do or say anything they want. It was a slip of the lip on Imus's part, nothing more, nothing less.
I'm sorry but once again the argument that because Johnny is allowed to pick his nose and eat at the dinner table is not a reason why anyone else shoud do the same, or why their parents should not be able to tell them the practice is unacceptable. Eventually, we can all hope, the culture of rap music and certain comedians will evolve to the point where they too will recognize there is nothing really of value in being as crude and offensive as they are today. But, someone has to lead the way and that responsibility most effectively falls on those who can and will do something to change. But to resist changing because of some perception that another group is "worse" and should change first is the same trap we find ourselves in with Bush's politics of not talking to the people he finds threatening to the US unless they first agree to always agree with him. It is a sure path to hell instead of compromise and peaceful coexistence with our neighbors. Jim

Hey, white people can say what they want. But the guy is not on a soap box, he is part of a money making enterprise. He shot himself in the ass. He is welcome to go down to Central Park and stand on an orange crate and rant at ho's all he wants.
Did you see the show or the clips? It was not just Imus, the remarks started with his old white guy side kicks, and then he put the icing on the cake. I personally found it offensive, not funny, and I'm a pretty thick-skinned guy. There is just something about a bunch of old white guys having a good laugh, not quite saying the words that I heard growing up, spoken like it was one word, "nigga-whores" - but going close enough to make it clear just what they meant, that was just plain sick. I bet that is what black people heard too. It was as if they were trying to find a way to express the same kind of disgusting degradation that was meant in saying words like that back in the old days. Again, they have every right to say what they want, but MSNBC had every right to react to the visceral disgust this caused in millions of people as well, people who buy products from their advertisers. Imus belongs on AM, where the sponsors are people who are trying to appeal to the racist fucks who listen to that cesspool anyway.

They FIRED him for "nappy-headed hos"? What about the other guy that said "Jigaboos"????????? Where is all the hype about that guy? Does he still have a job?
This is just pathetic. MSNBC deserves to loose advertisers over this.
This is what happens when people turn into giant pussies over some meaningless words.

I see we are back to the old double standard. It is not ok for Imus to say "Nappy headed ho's". But it is ok for people like Sharpton and Jackson to make all sorts of comments about the innocent Duke Lacross team, e.g. "we know they are guilty", "we know something happened here", "It is the rich, white people covering up", etc.
You know I have never been an Imus fan but after this witch hunt I am ready to start listening to him.
Different subcultures in America express things that are quite different with the same words. "Nappy headed ho" coming from a white person towards a black girl is loaded with Jim Crow looking down his nose at black women, defining the entire black female sex as prostitutes. The same type of remarks directed amongst black people is supposed to be expressions of solidarity among a suffering class. One must remember, for centuries white people claimed a legal right to rape, torture and murder these people based upon the idea they are an inferior race. Any type of public move to define them as inferior is frightening for them in a way white people either do not understand or that they discount. Mr. Imus crossed the line into that area of our national experience that is still an open sore.
You've just successfully proven my point, that there is a double standard. And it's wrong.
In fact, in this day and age it's harder to be a straight, white, male, than any other sexual orientation, race, or gender combination. Need proof? Just look at all of the origanizations out there that aim to give priveleges to homosexuals, blacks, Asians, women, etc
If a group of straight white males start an organization on a college campus in order to socialize with other people of their kind, it is met with fierce opposition and claims that they are "homphobic", "bigoted", and "racist". However a plethora of homosexual, black, Asian, and women's rights groups prosper and their existence is highly celebrated.

Yup, that's a double standard.
Hipocrites, every damn one. Now we have Sharpton/Jackson as the ones supposedley standing up for morality and can have MBC and CBS at their mercy?. As a nation, we have truly gone done the shitter. Lets also think about the term "nappy haired ho", does that sound like something a man Imu's age came up with, or, did he hear it somewhere. Hmmm, where could he have picked that line up?. I'm betting a rap song.
He got what he deserved for being ignorant.. He is on a nationally syndicated show that is being paid for by companies that employ all types of people.. He did three things wrong.. He disrespected women in general calling women Ho's.. then he called some college kids Ho's and third he said something dealing with the girls being black.. nappy headed ho's.. 3 no no's in one..
