NYC Firefighters Are Fags

These are the true heroes:

Deadliest Catch: Discovery Channel

I'm entranced by this goddamn show in its second season. Three more guys just drowned. Emotional.

It's narrarated by Dirty Job's Mike Rowe

I haven't seen the show, but hope to acquire the DVD set when they're available. Twenty years ago, I worked on the trawl fleet plying the same treacherous seas as those crabbers. In fact, we routinely dragged up those pots, which tore the shit out of our nets. We cursed them all--they're sick fuckers, one and all. It's a crazy last-frontier sort of lifestyle out in the Aleutians. Crabbers were viewed as a kind of violent irrational quasi-humanoid (Klingon-like) species, which was to be avoided when encountered in the Dutch Harbor bars. Any creature that can routinely go 72 hours straight, without sleep is not to be trusted.

NYC Firefighters? Where did that come from? If you were trying to say they are pussies compared to the crab people, or that they like to exchange fluids with people of the same gender?

We're having a crab boil in May. When I settle up to the newspaper covered table with a napkin tucked under my chin to catch the butter dripping from the fresh white meat of the Alaskan King Crabs I'm cracking, I'll say a small prayer, paying appreciation to the lost souls who helped grace my table with the fruits of their deaths. Alaskan King Crab is certainly a dish to die for, so long as it's someone else who's dying.

It's a good series. I watched the second season, but after a while it does get old. Pots in, pots out. But that has got to be one of the most difficult jobs around.
