No, I don't see a reference to your religion as I don't think you have brought the subject up directly, not that that would be a reason to make an issue of your religion, necessarily. I do see a reference to your previous injections of Israel's needs and desires being a reason for the US to have a military presence in the Middle East. This is a separately debatable issue. While I support the alliance between Israel and the United States, I do not believe Israel is entitled to the same unquestioning support of, say, California, by the United States.
We have gone down this road before on this site. The United States needs to consider Israel's needs and desires after
determining what is in the best interest of the United States, not before or during. When the two sets of interests are aligned, and that is something that can be adjusted or aimed better by Israel quite often, great. When they are not aligned, the US comes first. At times it may be justifiable that in a pot of grey issues and circumstances, judgement may be used that determines supporting Israel in some particular issue should be upheld, even if there is debate on whether that is in America's best interests.
This issue between Arabs, Palestinians, Persians and Israelis is complex and is thousands of years old. America is not a state founded on some tie to a particular religion or set of religious beliefs. Our outlook on this issue should caution us from taking a side in conflicts based on religions, if taking that side is not clearly in our best interests. As noted, in a world of shades of grey, and not black and white, judgement is needed to determine those best interests.
In your world of black and white, Israel is not always going to appear white to all Americans. If we continue down this path of polarizing America's relations with all the nations in the region, and elsewhere to maintain a special status with Israel at the cost of American lives, its treasure and future economic viability, we may be heading to a Sophie's Choice
like cusp - and how sure is Israel they are going to be the boy?
