Maybe we should tell them that Lexington is on a Plain, not in the Hills.
On the other hand, there were entirely too many people in Kentucky that just have unreasonable expectations for a coach. If ONE Championship, SIX SEC Championships and the FOURTH best win record in the last 10 years [with the ESPN ranked hardest schedule for all 10 years] is not enough to keep people happy, maybe he should leave. I would not put up with the "Tubby should..." shit that he goes through daily. $2.1M a year would not be worth it.
I went to the restaurant that he eats at [and the owner caters the B'ball team's meals] tonight just to see how it was. With the high school basketball tournament in town [packs in 24,000 nightly for 4 nights] the place was a zoo. No one knew anything as late as 2pm. Joe was distraught [he now has to meet new folks for namedropping]. The restaurant was about 60:40 pro Tubby tonight so opinion was sad that he was leaving.
Now every team in the country gets to pucker up and wait as UK cranks up the ol Destiny Machine to pick a new coach. Initial estimates are that UK will pay a $3M annual package.
With 98 NCAA wins the next coach gets to be the ONLY coach in NCAA history to pick up the 100 NCAA Tournament Games record.
Being smart is knowing the difference, in a sticky situation between a well delivered anecdote and a well delivered antidote - bear.
