I need help please
Well, I might as well tell it all.
Novartis Pharmaceuticals interviewed 12 people for one single position in the finance department starting at 30 dollars an hour. I was very excited when they told me that I was the "ONE" person chosen from all the interviewees. Needless to say, I got a phone call today after I have filled out all my paper work saying that they will not hire me due to my criminal record. Yes, I have a simple assault and a restraining order from my ex-girlfriend on the record. How the hell can they do this after I went through three interviews etc. I'm a little bummed out because for the last month I put in 100% of my energy into getting this internship. If they pay 30 bucks an hour as an intern I could only imagine how much I would have been getting paid after I graduated college. (I'm not as dumb as I make myself out to be on these forums)
Anyway, now lets get to the part about my criminal record. Last year my girlfriend and I broke up (well she dumped me after 4-5 years) so we were driving.... I was doing about 120mph in my Audi TT so she tried to grab the steering wheel because she was scared. I pushed her face (not punched or hit), I just pushed her face to get the hell of the steering wheel. She jumped out on the parkway when I was paying the toll so the state troopers came. I told them the same story as I am telling you here and they charged me with a simple assault and the girl got a restraining order against me. Yeah, I learned my lesson but now it is fucking me up.
Any suggestions during interviews and such? I am one of these people that gets offers from every single interview that I go on. For example, I have two other companies to fall back on since Novartis has declined me the position. I just sent out the e-mails but I am sure they will run a background check on me as well. What the heck do I do?
