It is an obvious truth: we screwed up. Screwed up bad. Yet the far right on this forum continues to pretend invading Iraq was somehow a good idea. What do you think?

Not that anyone didn't already have a clue about your position, but usually the pollster waits so as not to influence the results.

Meanwhile, now that we're there, how can we extract ourselves without ruining any chance for a credible foreign policy for the next 20 odd years? And, yes...I realize we have zero credibility right now but that can change after next year.

Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?

The far right will continue to claim that it was a bad idea years from now. The reason that they are "far right" is biological.

The solution is simple. Get out. Let them slaughter each other until they are sick of it.

We move back to Kuwait, Turkey and Jordan while scaling down. These three countries claim to be our allies right?
We set up training facilities for the Iraqis at those borders to protect the recruits.
We put diplomacy first when it comes to Iran and Syria, you know like real dialogues without Israel telling us what to say and when to talk.
Try to settle Israeli Palestinian differences to really rebuild our credibility as a peace broker.
That would be a start

That is, in effect, the Baker Iraq Study Group plan, which was rejected in favor of The Surge.

Yeah it's like if you're engine is smoking then you must remove the wheels to balance them to solve the problem, oh and manage to deflate the tires in the process because we were told to do so by "experts". We avoid going into the core issue that fuels the biggest problems in the Middle East but manage to add fuel for future problems.

This should've been a public poll, so we could see who the dipshits are...oh, nevermind. Pfft, like there's any doubt.

btw: What does one wear to a surrender party?
