As for the $2000 laptop. That is what mine cost after taxes all software installed 3 years warranty, ect.. It was a 1.8Ghz Dual Core. I DO NOT have the cash to put down on a new PC right now. The bidding is going to start at $20. So even if I spend $150-200 w/ repairs. I will have a MUCH better PC then I have now. Plus I just found out the guy that owns the MR2 that I am fixing has a degree in computer sicence. Plus the lot I will be bidding on(there are about 10 PC lots total) all have monitors, APC battery backup's, fax/scanner/printer, ect.. All of which work. There is only one power cord. So I DID power up everything & it worked. The CPU did power up, but obviously I could not see how far it got while booting.
My firend can get me all parts at store owners cost & should have everything in stock. I was not going to even bid on it, after reading some posts here. But considering he can set up the BIOS & all that stuff, I figured it is worth a shot. Plus I will learn PROPERLY.
Spending $20 on a "non-working" PC is no big deal. Considering people spend well over $10,000 on a Mercedes with NO warranty. Buying a PC like this is hardly something to worry about.
Another reason why I am looking at a better PC. Is because this one UPDATES constantly. I then have to reboot & it updates again. While it is in the process of updating, the PC is slow as hell. He is going to come over tonight & see if he can find something wrong.
