My position is that her eccentricities are over-the-top, even by Washington standards. I can think of one Presidential candidate who hasn't allowed their dignity to be trampled upon by their significant others as a way of paying membership dues into the club of this nation's political elite - actually, NONE of them have sacrificed their dignity nor demonstrated so little spine in matters of conscience as Hillary...and that's really saying something. The "cleaning lady" many lefties here have bemoaned was more qualified to lead the nation than poor, pitiful Hillary. I'll give her credit where it's due - she's a very crafty political chameleon, but the genuine Hillary Clinton isn't a very flattering figure.

Recall that earlier generations faced down fascism and communism not just with missiles and tanks, but with sturdy alliances and enduring convictions. They understood that our power alone cannot protect us, nor does it entitle us to do as we please. Instead, they knew that our power grows through its prudent use; our security emanates from the justness of our cause, the force of our example, the tempering qualities of humility and restraint.

Now I am not a Hillary supporter, mainly because I think she is going to be dragged into the sewer by the opposition - people who consider themselves "conservative" and would like to reduce government spending, but who, for purely political gain are willing to support the likes of Ken Starr spending tens of millions of dollars hounding a President over fabricated charges of having unfairly not lost some or all of his $43,000 investment in a land deal in Arkansas - and never get a chance to win the election on the issues and her vision for America. I also think it is nonsense to start a Presidential campaign this early - this will be a war of attrition, and while Hillary has shown she has guts and determination, it is not clear she can survive another 18 months of ever increasing personal attacks.

In my view her role should be to draw out the irrational and obviously hate driven right wing nuts, confront them, and goad them into stripping away the thin veneer of civility they cloak themselves in, and make it difficult for all self respecting, slightly right of the middle of the road and left people in the voting population to be other than repulsed by their tactics of lying and fabricating, distracting with non-issues, and dividing along lines of prejudice and hate.

Ah, but one could dream Jim, one could dream. Hillary. A congress with a 2/3 Democrat majority. Ah, what a world that would be. And to think, George is working as hard as he can to make it all possible. If the war drags on another two years and the tempertures rise another ten degrees, it will come, yea, it will come. Just think, the US Department of Civil Liberties, chaired by Secretary Al Sharpton. My, my.

I am unaware of her eccentricities and don't think I am either under her spell or uninformed. What exactly do you mean?

Once again, it seems your deeply rooted, irrational hatred of Bill is clouding your judgement. Your desire to see Bill fry at Hillary's hand was unfulfilled, and you have transferred your hatred of Bill to Hillary as a result. The Clinton's marriage is really not the public's business. It did nothing good for America to be preoccupied with Monica and the BJs. In fact, it can be hypothesized it was detrimental in that all the attention on Bill's knobber kept the Republican Congress from supporting the need to attack Osamma's camps. But the domestic political gain that seemed within their reach at the time by keeping the knobber in the news blinded them to the need to keep America's interests first.

Overall, I don't find self sacrifice a character flaw. I see that if that self sacrifice deny's you your vicarious oportunity to fry Bill, you find it means "spineless" instead of self sacrificing.

Who and what is the genuine Hillary Clinton? How do you know whatever your response is, is true?

Jim

Maybe she actually loves the guy.
