Euros embrace nuke power to fight global warming

Why not here in the US?

The recent declassification of the Venona Project documents showing the links between the USSR and liberal anti-nuke organizations in the US taught us that the "nuclear free" folks were simply useful idiots in the USSR's quest to weaken the US.

We live with that legacy today. Isn't it time that we join the rest of the developed world and start developing nuclear power? For those of you who believe that man is changing the climate, why is it that you also refuse to consider the one answer that we know will allow for technological advancement and prosperity to continue?

I am certain that we will figure out safer ways to deal with waste, and that land hungry energy sources and watershed disrupting energy sources have more of an impact on the environment than nuclear power.

When climate change "activists" deride nuclear power for the United States, it shows me what they are really after.

I agree Nuclear is the "cleanest" and most enviormentally safe way to produce electricity. Take a look at the Apalachian(msp?) moutains and see how, one by one they are being leveled for coal mining. Its sickening.

The 'G' countries should have made much greater investment into fusion research, but presumably the cheap oil era diluted the incentive. 'Necessity being the mother of invention' maybe we will see some real progress over the next decade, maybe not.

On the contrary, he's been quite a supporter of nukes. And, to be sure, many European countries are in political tizzies at present with people wanting the nuke plants shut down (Germany, in particular, has a phase out order). I think they're nuts, myself.
