Shane would probably find the Montrose district more interesting. Great clubs. Cool resturants in old converted mansions. Take in the Menil Museum if you are in that part of town, fabulous collection of Picasso and Magritte, totally free. Dig the old beatnik coffee shop a few blocks down the street from the Menil, they do beat poetry and music at night.
If you want to hear some real blues, do the bars on Richmond Ave. Richmond is Houston's Lower Greenville.
For the rest of you, you are talking about "Dimitri's Island", those clubs are sleazier than shit. Better to get off at the Dickenson exit about midway between Houston and Galveston, and enjoy Heartbreakers and Rick's Caberet. Much better looking whores there.
Is that place on NW highway an "all nude" club? That place is truly disgusting. Or is it the new place with the great landscaping and nice architecture? In either case, bring a handgun. That whole area is really dangerous. The parking lots of those clubs on 290 are real popular with stick up guys, and don't be surprised if you radio is gone when you come out.
Recall that earlier generations faced down fascism and communism not just with missiles and tanks, but with sturdy alliances and enduring convictions. They understood that our power alone cannot protect us, nor does it entitle us to do as we please. Instead, they knew that our power grows through its prudent use; our security emanates from the justness of our cause, the force of our example, the tempering qualities of humility and restraint.
