Now that you mention it, I saw a disproportionate amount of hippies in very old vehicles.

Most people don't know this, but Sam Houston was a hell of a junky. He was hooked on opiates during most of his life, and stayed high into a ripe old age.

Recall that earlier generations faced down fascism and communism not just with missiles and tanks, but with sturdy alliances and enduring convictions. They understood that our power alone cannot protect us, nor does it entitle us to do as we please. Instead, they knew that our power grows through its prudent use; our security emanates from the justness of our cause, the force of our example, the tempering qualities of humility and restraint.

Don't get me wrong - I'm not talking about the whole place, I loved the Vancouver, WA area when I worked out there in the big power plants around Mt. St. Helens, but Seattle, you can have that fucking place. All yours, Homer.

Note, I live 60 miles south of Shittle. I avoid the place like the plague, unless I'm scorin crack or cruzin hot lumberjack chicks. Portland is way way way cooler.
