Everyone I talk to with a comparable home has the same sob story. I don't care how much money you earn, when you do the math and figure your bill is going up by 20 percent by moving into a larger home and instead it DOUBLES...you get pissed.
Then you hear that Al Gore is somehow paying a fifth the price for electricity in TN versus CA. Holy Crap.
OK heres a few tips
1 only run the pool filter during the day you don't need it on 24-7
or install timer that it comes on only 5 hrs a day 10 till3 the warmest time the other time is just wasting hydro and chemicals
install fluorescents in your outside lights, and place them on a timer,or a photo cell,
raise the temperature in the house you don't need to run ac @ 68 74 OR WARMER IS COMFORTABLE change the filter in your furnace every month.get rid of old TVs more than 10 yrs old
i can recommend more if you wish.but these are big.
PS my house id 7200 sq ft side split no air forced heat and i pay 200 a month give or take.
