The amusing thing about this current furore is that scientists are proposing to manage the earth's climate, when they cannot even control rainfall. It all too reminiscent of the rain-makers brought out in primitive societies to end a draught.
The thing is, if we could control our climate, who would be in charge of it? Australia could do with a bit more rain - but at which other country's expense? The UK would be happy with a warmer climate, but that might be too much for sub-Saharan Africa. Or if we say that we would like the weather to stay as it is, what year is that?
And if human being numbers are really the cause of the problem, why has nobody suggested a world-wide control of population growth? It would be a damned sight cheaper to introduce that some of the other crack-pot schemes I've read about, which largely revolve around new taxes.
