The legitimate resistance by Iraqi is labeled a terrorist movement because we can't draw the line between them and al Qaeda. That's exactly what Al Qaeda wanted and they succeeded in doing.
A people has the right to resist outsiders and we are outsiders to the Iraqis. Saddam was one of them and his regime was theirs. You ask where were they? Well the motivation is not the same Badbenz. For instance if we had a bad government in our country it does not mean that I need to raise arms against it but if we had foreigners attacking us then invading us for WHATEVER the reason was I would fight them to death. Right or wrong I will fight for my country, would you? Get back to the core of my question here Badbenz, would you fight for the USA or would you collaborate? Remember this is in context of defending our soil not us invading another country.
What the Hell Prof, we can't do anything right anyway, so why should we bother? Isn't that the way you, and those like you think?
As far as raising arms against a bad Government, I think we did that, and I think we did it twice.... once in 1775, and again as far as some were concerned in 1861.

So why can you not see Iraqi motivation for fighting us? Would you not do the same if we were invaded and occupied? Didn't you see "Red Dawn"?

^^^ You just don't get it. If we're attacked by N. Korea, we're supposed to retaliate against Argentina. And if citizens of Argentina dare to resist our good-willed liberation, they are deemed 'bad guys'. Does that clear it up?

I think you just don't understand the American technique. We murder their women and children over trumped up WMD charges, and then they are supposed to love us. Why can't you see the sense in that? Is it because you hate America so?

In other news, special today on shit sandwiches down at Cheney's Crab Shack.

Recall that earlier generations faced down fascism and communism not just with missiles and tanks, but with sturdy alliances and enduring convictions. They understood that our power alone cannot protect us, nor does it entitle us to do as we please. Instead, they knew that our power grows through its prudent use; our security emanates from the justness of our cause, the force of our example, the tempering qualities of humility and restraint.

It IS good news when they find a weapons cache. It just doesn't balance the massive death that has been inflicted on the Iraqi people, the deaths of American and Coalition Troops and the enormous loss of good men and women who will forever be altered as they come back home wounded unable to just pick up and go on with their lives.

Those of us who fully oppose the war do fully support the troops and their successes. Some of us even know what that feels like. We know that the best way to support the troops is to do everything possible to end their mission as soon as is earthly possible.

Since EVERYONE knows there cannot be VICTORY, the options are down to how to leave with the least deaths to our troops and the Iraqi people. Indications are if we leave, much of the violence stops since it is targeted at us and our supporters.

I sort of agree w/ you: It IS good news when they find a weapons cache in Iraq because those are weapons that 1) cannot be used on the "good guys" there and 2) cannot reach our shores here in the USA to be used on you and me. Those of us who fully support the war, for those reasons, obviously support our troops and their successes. And their success will only be assured as long as we/they do not cut and run, leaving chaos and destruction in the wake. And I agree that we need to do everying possible to end their mission as soon as is earthly possible! A lame/dangerous pull-out strategy though will only ensure their failure and the futility of their sacrifices. The violence there is clearly directed at the people of a democratic Iraqi nation, NOT the US presence. If that were the case the Iraqi government would surly have asked us to leave long ago. But it has, in fact, frequently said they want and need the coalition troops there to avoid chaos and destruction. It is always curious to me how some of you w/ descent ideas can twist them into a politically correct, left-wing, anti-war, bunch of bull shit. IMO, you cannot even be honest w/ yourselves; but thanks for the good ideas anyway!

Don't believe everything you think

How many weapons from the ME have made it to U.S. soil and taken the lives of U.S. citizens? (Hint: AFAIK it is same number of spaceships sent to earth by Ming the Merciless from the planet Mongo).

No guarantees my friend, as Manual Noriega can attest to.
