Before & After: not for the faint of heart
Well I finally got my aunts 1 owner, all papers since new, poor old '72 4.5 280SEL last night and washed it at the car wash in 26 degree blowing weather. These are the sections I have machine compounded and those that are original too. The paint is coming out suprisingly well, luckily it had not started to craze and it is still thick enough to eat through to a shine. Have compounded a few cars before with my buffer but never one quite so oxidized. No repaint needed, plus the slightly aged paint will go nicely with the careful patina the rest of the car displays.
