remember the candy diagram.

Think of above as the entire essay.
From bottom left to upper right:

1. Introduction (general background) gradually focusing to:
2. Thesis (key statement and intent of the essay - right where the wrapper is at its narrowest
3: Body (paragraphs that expands and supports thesis - where the candy is. More persuasive essays are the ones that provide A: argument in support of thesis, B: counter-argument that contradicts your thesis C: reaffirmation of A and why B fails)
4: Conclusion: restate the thesis (where the wrapper narrows again) and summarize your views.

No matter how short an essay, a well-written paper will have all of the above components.

Think about when you had to recommend why Lexus RX 330 is a perfect car for maine-coon's wife:

1 and 2. Intro and thesis - provide maine_coon's background and his needs, summarized with a sentence noting your recommendation, the RX

3. Body - A: why RX stands out over the rest, especially in light of mc's wifey's needs
B: Where RX falls short and other vehicles may excel.
C: Explain why RX is the ultimate choice over other vehicles

4. Conclusion: restate briefly why RX is the best choice, perhaps with the most prominent example.

easy as that.

I'm fluent in three languages. I'm currently learning Spanish as a fourth and because a foreign language class is required.

Why aren't you taking Latin, Mr. Wannabeadoctor?

That's not the hard part for me. It's when I actually have to write that's the hard part. The sentences are pretty choppy and it starts to sound redundant after a while.

study complex sentences - for example, those beginning with words such as although, despite and however can allow you to represent two ideas within one sentence. Also, semicolon is a handy punctuation that can provide a softer pause than a full stop but more separation than a comma.

Appositive, a group of words separated by commas that describe the word or a phrase that precedes it, is a handy device that adds flavor to an otherwise bland sentence.

In fact, the above is an example of an appositive.

Heh, yeah, maybe if it was even offered. Do many high schools even teach Latin today?

Thanks. I'll keep this in mind and try it once in a while.

I feel a little better knowing I recently got 100% on my human anatomy and physiology paper on Alzheimer's.
