It means you are qualified to speak on environmental issues, tell other people how and when to conserve, and become vice president.

Since this is a scientific argument, how does going after Gore advance the argument for those who say global warming is not happening?

Recall that earlier generations faced down fascism and communism not just with missiles and tanks, but with sturdy alliances and enduring convictions. They understood that our power alone cannot protect us, nor does it entitle us to do as we please. Instead, they knew that our power grows through its prudent use; our security emanates from the justness of our cause, the force of our example, the tempering qualities of humility and restraint.

-President Barack Obama, 1st Inaugural address

Methinks the main point is that Gore is a hypocrit, but since he's your hero, you can overlook it.

As a general rule I accept as gospel unvarnished truth anything a mining executive -- or a former mining executive -- has to say concerning the environment.

I found that amusing, too.

I'm pretty much on the anthropogenic global warming side of the argument, but I am not certain. Certainty is a faith-based argument, IMO. To me, the burden of proof has shifted to the other side -- folks who say that global warming is NOT affected by humanity need to step-up and offer arguments that prove the hypothesis wrong. Occasionally they provide evidence to that effect, and that's a good thing as it advances scientific understanding to find fault with a hypothesis. So far however, the evidence has been on very narrow aspects of the inputs, not on the models themselves.

There is one Israeli scientist of some ability who has questioned the entire model by attributing warming to extraterrestrial factors that he says the modelers have not accounted for. If he is right, then the whole anthropogenic warming thing is cosmically wrong. There is still an awful lot of checking to do before the global warming consensual reality is shattered. But it could happen.

Dude...get some weatherstripping or something! Close a window for Chrissake!Holy shit that's a big bill!

We opted for the levelized/averaged billing so that the monthly payment reflects 1/12th of a rolling one-year total...our total energy bill (gas + electric) each month is around $95.

I got close to 4.5K sqrf of space and still in the process of renovation. It will take time before I fine tune this old lady.
I need to quit teaching so I can hire people to do the work and she gets all fixed up faster. Right now I do all the work and I have done a lot, something like 5% of what she needs.
I think it's time that I say screw helping others learn something. There is always another teacher wanna be that will accept poverty as a life style

You'll have a few undisturbed months to work on it coming up here in the summer, won't you?
