Too many variables. What are you using it for? Just commuting, alone or with 6 other people? Do you need towing capacity, hauling, room for 4x8 sheets of plywood, 4wd adventures, skiing? What price range? New or used?
Jeep just came out with a 4 door wrangler. 4 wd 4 door with a removable top. Hard top comes off in 3 pieces.
If you need space, GM just redesigned the Tahoe/Suburban/Avalanche with a flex fuel engine that has a cylinder management system. Shuts down cylinders when not needed. Supposedly gets 22 mpg hwy.
Toyota FJ is a nicely priced compromise vehicle along the lines of the Element, but with better off road capabilities.
