That shoe doesn't fit on any President. There is no way a President, selected by the media circus/election process of today, and likely throughout our past, is going to arrive with all the necessary skills and experience to be a truly effective Commander in Chief, capable of committing US forces to war, all by himself. The present means for dealing with this is to use the military and intelligence professionals in the various branches of the DoD (none of them elected by the American People), a hand picked group of close associates, the Cabinet (none of them elected by the American People) and possibly some outside sources (military funded "think tanks") to augment the likely novice weenie we elect to be the POTUS.
This POTUS has showed us just how precarious our process is - we elected a dimbulb with an agenda, from the political party in solid control of the legislative branch, and under the stress of 9-11's aftermath, the dimbulb broke down and took America with him. While there is no exact instance to point to in our past where these circumstances combined to bring us to the brink of Nazism, unless you are blinded by allegiance to the Republican Political Party (this time), we are dangerously close to being the instigator of WWIII at the hands of a moron who is unable to deal with the conditiions he faces and, if allowed, will continue to widen the conflict in the ME to avoid being held responsible for the failures and damages of his regime to date.
It might be worth establishing some additional controls on Presidential war making power, as we have now demonstrated we as a people are unable to select a candidate based on qualifications, and that without controls, an egotistical dumbass can now order the deaths of hundreds of thousands of people to save his political ass, and make it seem like it was something necessary for our safety.
